I thought it would be SO fun to make homemade gum for this party from a “Make Your Own Chewing Gum” kit I found on Glee Gum. Wow, making your own gum is harder than it seems. And more complicated. But the kids enjoyed it and I always think it’s cool to teach kids where stuff comes from or how it’s really made. Gum doesn’t just grow on the grocery store shelves, you know.

After we finished making all of the gum, I cut the gum dough into little pieces and wrapped it in waxed paper and put it into these containers for the kids to take home and enjoy.

Your label on your wrapper says homade gum, should it read homemade gum? Just curious. =o)
Jennifer: I know, I’m such a dork. I made those labels really late at night, the night before the party. I hand stamped them and I was questioning the spelling, but I didn’t check it. It was so late and I was so tired and it seemed to make sense at the time. It’s really embarrassing, actually, that I sent home 12 “ho” made favors to the neighbor kids. Good thing my neighbors know me well. Or maybe they can’t spell either
LOL!!! I couldn’t resist being the first to bring it up. We’ve all been there a time or two so I’m sure your neighbors got a good laugh out of it as well.
That gave me a good laugh. I do want to say I have never even heard of making homemade gum. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks for sharing it!
I love this idea for “ho” made gum. My boys would get a kick out of it. They are in that stage where all the gum in my purse in gone in a day. Now, they can have their own!!
May I ask what type of paper you used for wrapping the tubes? It is very pretty and appears to have some “texture” to it.
