I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too. It was a toss up on what dessert to serve for this Wizard of Oz party. The party guests were already decorating candy houses and how much sweet stuff do kids need? But in the end we decided that we had to have both the Toto cookies and the Wicked Witch of the West cupcakes: one dessert to eat at the party and one to take home for later.

These darling Toto cookies were made by A Dozen Eggs. I love the detail on every single one.

These witch cupcakes were a pain, but a local bakery came through and did everything but the cone hats. I couldn’t find chocolate ice cream cones anywhere. So to improvise we dipped the regular sugar cones in chocolate. But they were very melty outside…

Love this party? I do too. Click on the Wizard of Oz Party tag below to see more. All photos by Nicole Hill Gerulat.

  3. About the melty cones, I did something like these cupcakes last Halloween and I just added a bit of Crisco to the chocolate to get it to thicken.
What a party! I love the take home baskets. Any Dorothy would be lucky to attend this soiree.

  5. Lorie–I buy cake stands everywhere. The small white cake stand in that picture is from Crate & Barrel and the black stand is a Rosanna Rococo Noir purchased through Amazon. I don’t know if either is still available though.
