Forget those cheesy dinosaur shaped cakes. A simple cake, roughly frosted with chocolate frosting, gives this party an earthy feel. Embellish with a chocolate frosting border at the bottom and add candy rocks, jelly beans, and green chocolate candies. Place a toy dinosaur by the cake just for fun.

I have to say, I’m super excited by this party! Yes, even girls love dinosaurs, haha!
The cake looks delish, and I like the different route you seem to be taking with the decor/planning. Usually dino-themes tend to look a little babyish, but this looks like it’d be great for older kids too!
PS. The T-Rex in the party hat is basically the greatest. ♥
This is great, I’ve done something similar for my kids birthday parties, just get a regular cake and decorate it with toys, it’s original and can be adapted to any theme. (I also love the cupcake topper)
Awesome cake ~~ simple, yet perfect for this party! I love the cake stand, by the way! That shade of green is one of my favorites!!
i seriously luv the simplicity in it. very nice and charming too.
So cute!
That cake stand is to die for! Where did you get it? Where do you get all of your cake stands?
Thanks for all of the fabulous inspiration!
rebecca–That cake stand is from Home Goods, but I bought it a while ago so it probably isn’t still available. I also buy cake stands from Crate & Barrel, bellacor.com, amazon.com and local shops. Have a great weekend!
This cake looks fantastic. Great job. I love the theme.
