I don’t know if it’s really that big of a secret, but I love cake stands. Love them. I probably have 40 in all different colors, shapes and sizes. I’m not a jealous person, but I’m always envious of a great cake stand. And since every birthday party needs one, here is one of my favorites that I picked out for you.

I used to work for a software company that did monthly birthday celebrations for employees. The lady who made the cakes made this spectacular 6-layer caramel cake. Obviously, I have fond memories of it, especially since I haven’t worked there in 10 years!

Well, far be it from me to play favorites because, you know, I wouldn’t want to hurt any of the other flavors feelings. However lemon is always refreshing. And coconut is very tasty. Let’s not forget how yummy tres leches is though. I could go on and on, but I would be late for work.

Just had a Luau party for my now 10 year old and I made Pina colada and banana cupcakes. The crowd of girls and I too- vote pina colada as a new fav! PERFECT for summer- the pineapple gave it the moistness and flavor and the toasted coconut buttercream icing was just fab!!! I too LOVE cake stands and this one is lovely!!

I have a recipe for a flourless chocolate mousse cake that (after is has fallen) is filled with chocolate mousse and them frosted with whip cream. It has a wonderful chocolate flavor (for this chocoholic) but it has light texture. It’s dangerously decadent and would look perfect on this milk glass cake stand

i know this is going to sound weird and this is probably the only place you’ll find this, but i love oatmeal cake….loved it as a teenager and always asked for it for my birthday. i even had a lady bake one layer of it for my wedding cake…haven’t eaten it since that time because it was so bad. but….that’s the cake that came immediately to mind and i wonder if i can even find a recipe for that anywhere. it was moist and yummy and the frosting very similar to the frosting for german chocolate cake. maybe it was the frosting that had me…all pecany and brown sugary and coconuty…

Chocolate cake with white frosting, that has been refrigerated is my favorite. There is something delicious about ice cold cake in the summer time. A close second would be carrot cake or a good German Chocolate. I guess I am really not that picky.

always loves this easy to make cake. It’s a 4 layer chocolate cake with “Mrs Richardsons Hot Fudge Topping” used for the filling for 2 of the layers and a whipped cream frosting for the center layer and the top and sides of the cake. Serve it chilled, its a big hit every time! It has become my family’s most requested cake for their birthdays.
