Day 7: A fun way to pass the holidays is a Christmas countdown with books. For this countdown you can use old or new books, Christmas or everyday books. Wrap up 12 books (or as many days as you would like to count down) like a present. Your kids can take turns unwrapping one book each night. It’s a fantastic way to read them their bedtime story and let them open some early Christmas presents.

  2. I LOVE that idea! Too bad my kids are a bit too old for this – maybe I’ll pass it along to my sister.
For older kids, I think it can still apply! My kids are in high school, and they love to read when they’re on break. They rarely have time to read for fun when school is in session. My oldest is really into WWII right now, so I got her the book “Rebirth” by David Longueay (http://rebirthofisrael.com). I know she hasn’t read it, so I can’t wait for her to open it!
