Games at a first birthday party can be hard to plan. Will there be adults attending? A mixture of children who are all different ages? And what about the birthday baby–shouldn’t the party be about them? Inspired by the Korean tradition, get a playful glimpse into your baby’s future with this fortune-telling game.

Cute Idea for Game at Baby's First Birthday Party #firstbirthday

TO PLAY: Collect objects that represent cities across the globe and place them in front of baby. Whichever object he or she reaches for first, indicates where their aspirations may take them. The traditional Korean ritual uses items that represent professions, but we think this variation was fitting for our World Traveler theme. We presented the objects for baby on a homemade wooden tray lined with a map.

I’ll be sharing a new blog post each week over on Disney Baby. Today I’m sharing this post, click over to see what object she picks!

  1. Cute! In my family we have the tradition of placing a bible, a silver dollar and a beer bottle in front of baby on the first birthday. The one they touch first will determine their path in life, spiritual, wealth or parties. Most babies go for the bottle since it’s, well, a bottle! :)
