My kids start school today. I’m happy and sad. I’ve waited for this day for almost 14 years. For the first time since I gave birth to my first child, ALL four of my kids will be in school ALL day. My oldest is starting eighth grade and my baby is in first grade. I daydreamed about this very day so many years ago when they were much younger, but I thought I’d have more free time to waste when the time actually arrived. Joke’s on me, right? Happy and sad because time is going by too fast.

Speaking of “free time,” I wanted to share some pictures from Alt NYC. If you want to see more photos, you can take a peek at the Alt Flickr stream — it’s pretty great.

A quick recap: The food was delicious, the speakers were fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect. We could take behind the scenes self guided tours of the Martha Stewart offices. Amazing. You can see my phone pics of the offices on my instagram account @onecharmingirl. Swiss Miss put a tattly on my arm. Everyone got to hear Martha Stewart say a few words to us. I met Darcy Miller and Sarah Carey. I saw old friends and met some new ones. I could have stared at that amazing window full of stained glass all day. There was a roof top party. And in case you were wondering, I talked to Sweet Paul too.

  2. I am in the same boat as you, in terms of school. My oldest started seventh grade and my youngest was off to kindergarten which is a full day. I teared up a little at the bus stop this morning because I will miss having a little hand to hold when I am out and about on errands. I was so happy when the bus came this afternoon! Thanks for sharing your photos from NY – looks like a neat event!

  3. elena–I teared up too after I dropped them all off in the morning. It was crazy, I always thought I’d be so excited. But I was so happy to see them after school! Thanks for commiserating with me. xo B
