It’s not a Sewing Party without some sewing! This simple project yields a fun, fashionable bracelet and teaches guests one of the most basic and useful sewing skills — sewing on a button. First, use this free printable worksheet to help party guests understand the steps for sewing on a button. Then they’re ready to make their bracelets.
Directions: Cut three, 1×14-inch strips from knit fabric. Stack the three strips together and sew a button on through all three layers. Tape the button end down and braid strips together. Tie a knot at the end to hold the braid. Check to make sure the bracelet is the correct length for the wearer’s wrist. Then stitch up and down through all three layers, five or six times to hold the braid securely, and tie off the thread. Trim the excess length of knit braid beyond your stitched end. Fasten bracelet by looping button through the braid.
