Store artwork safely and free of creases with a DIY art caddy covered in cute fabric. This durable art container will keep kid’s precious drawings and paintings protected in transit, to and from school. And this would be a great craft project for an art-themed party or as a back to school activity.
You will need: fabric scraps, wine cylinder gift box (which you can find at any craft store), leather cord, fabric scissors, spray adhesive, acrylic paint, paint brush
Directions: First, remove the lid and cut the cord handle from the cylinder wine box and remove. Next, spread out your piece of fabric and cut to size. Note: When measuring your fabric to fit the container, leave extra space on each end. Set the fabric aside and spray adhesive over the surface of the wine box. Lay your fabric out flat, wrong side up. Center wine box at one end and begin rolling the fabric onto the container. Spread out any bumps. Spray the bottom of the container with adhesive and fold excess fabric over to cover the bottom of the container. Then tuck in the excess fabric into the top opening. Once dry, poke holes through the fabric with scissors or another sharp object, where the holes for the previous handle are. Add a new handle by threading and knotting a piece of leather cord. Paint the lid in a complimentary color and wait for it to dry.
