Artsy monogrammed paper cups are perfect for an alphabet party, and (bonus) you can even get the kids involved with the painting. It’s so easy. All you’ll need are some plain paper cups, paint, painter’s tape, scissors, and a brush.

Directions: Start by cutting a small 2-4 inch piece of painter’s tape from the roll. Then, cut out the letter you would like to monogram onto the paper cup. If you don’t feel comfortable free-handing the letter, you can always draw it out on the tape before cutting. Once the letter has been cut, attach it to the paper cup. Move your hand across the tape to smooth and get rid of any bubbles. Once the tape letter is secure, apply thin layers of paint overtop in a haphazard motion. No need for perfection here, this is supposed to be fun and abstract. Once the paint is completely dry, remove the tape and you are ready to serve drinks.

Take it further: Use this technique to make matching painted party hats and more. Coordinates with our easy Monogram Cupcake Toppers.

  1. this is such a great idea. I used to do this with my kindergarten class to learn letters but I love it as decorations for a party. I want those straws too!
