Ahhhh, I love decorating gingerbread houses. For the last four years I’ve been in charge of a Gingerbread Decorating Party for a youth group at our church. I think I look forward to it just as much as the kids do. And this year my three daughters were all able to attend. It was really fun having them there. If you’re planning a Gingerbread Decorating Party, check out these gingerbread house decorating ideas we posted a few years ago. There are two download links below for the front and back of the invitation–it’s still one of my favorites. Click here for the invitation directions.
I love decorating gingerbread houses but they never look display worthy for long, especially after the kids break off all of the candy and eat it. Then what? This year I discovered faux gingerbread houses. I’m sure they’ve been around forever, but it’s the first time I really noticed them. A friend and I both purchased different ones for our homes and everyone who see them checks to see if they’re real. I’m not giving up on decorating real gingerbread houses, but now I have a beautiful one to display every year. I put together several faux houses that I like in an eBay collection called (you guessed it) Faux Gingerbread Houses.
