Here at One Charming Party we love to party. And our favorite thing about parties is teaching you how to re-create every party that we do. Just sharin’ the love. We know you scour the internet for ideas. We know you want a special day for your child. And we know that throwing a party can feel overwhelming and crazy at times…

Our parties have been photographed in great detail to show you our process so that you can have the same party yourself. You’ll end up with an unforgettable event that your child and your party guests will all love. This full Art Gallery Party is now available for purchase in our shop.

This party incorporates the colors in the color wheel. We used all colors across the spectrum with a huge dose of white to keep everything bright and crisp.

What’s an Art Gallery Party without a cake that’s a work of art? With a little planning you can make this cake like a pro.

1. Divide your cake batter into 8 different bowls. Color each bowl of batter a different color. Our colors are: red, pink, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, and purple. Bake each layer in an 8″ or 9″ round pan. You will take turns using the pan over and over with different colors. Unless you have 8 round pans. Make sure to grease and flour your pan or put a round of parchment in the bottom to prevent sticking. Let each cake cool slightly before removing. Turn out onto a cooling rack to finish cooling.

2. Once the cakes have cooled completely, freeze each layer individually wrapped in plastic. This will make it easier to assemble and frost the cake.

3. Once the cakes are frozen you can start layering your cake in a rainbow pattern, putting frosting in between each layer.

4. Frost the outside of the cake as well. More complete instructions are included in the Art Gallery Party PDF–available for purchase in our shop.

As the guests arrive have them make a paper chain from pre-cut strips of colored paper and glue sticks. This chain will later be used for decoration at the gallery showing at the end of the party. Once most of the guests have arrived they can start at the first craft station: drawing their artist self-portrait.

Ever wonder how to arrange flowers? I am in love with this flower arrangement. If you would like to re-create this bouquet that we used for the Art Party yourself, here are the easy steps to follow.

Tools: serrated floral knife, pruners/garden clippers, 20-24 gauge floral wire, paper scissors

Flowers: pink gerbera daisies, dark pink roses, red pixie carnations, orange tulips, yellow ranunculus, yellow mums, kermit poms, bear grass, blue hydrangeas, purple liatris

A few tips from Megan: Keep the flowers in cold water until you are ready to use them. Strip the stems of excess foliage. Secure smaller bundles of flowers with a rubber band or floral wire. Trim the ends at an angle. You can tweak the flowers as you go until you get the right look. Have fun learning how to arrange flowers for yourself.
