CHARMING SPLURGE: The shiny scoops to the right are about $12 each at Gygi’s, but the quality difference is clear — made of stainless steel they are sure to last through loads of parties. REMEMBER: It’s best to handwash scoops since the dishwasher may dull their finish.

The party stylists blank canvas is a white linen tablecloth. While you might feel compelled to change tablecloth colors to coordinate with party themes, often the neutral colors of basic tablecloths provide a better foundation letting your party decor shine.
It’s best to invest in quality white and denim tablecloths. We’re convinced that with just these two options in your linen closet, you can coordinate with any party theme.
Another party stylists’ secret is to use a table pad underneath your tablecloth. Made from vinyl with felt backing, table pads help the tablecloth have better drape and a smoother appearance. They also muffle noise and provide protection for the table.

You might be wondering how we could possibly argue that disposable partyware is charming, and while we’d normally agree, these clear tumblers are the exception.
