Lucky little four leaf clover bags make an adorable accessory for any event that needs a little extra green. Whether they are filled with delicious gold coins as St. Patrick’s Day favors or as prizes at the end of a treasure hunt, these cute bags are a must have for this year’s celebration.
You will need: 3×4 inch muslin bags, freezer paper, clover craft punch, acrylic craft paint (most supplies can be found at craft stores, like Michael’s Craft)
Directions: Punch a clover out of a piece of freezer paper. With a clothes iron, iron the freezer paper square, wax side down, onto your muslin bag. Place a scrap piece of paper inside your muslin bag to prevent the paint from soaking onto the back. Paint over the clover punch. Peel off the freezer paper and allow your bag to dry.
You can make as many clover prints on your bag as you want, just repeat the instructions above and allow the paint to dry in between each clover. This same idea can be repeated on a bigger tote, shirt, scarf or basically anything you might want to wear on St. Patrick’s Day!
Chartreuse, lime, olive, mint, kelly … there are just as many wonderful shades of green as there are paper goods and craft supplies in this fresh color. Check out this collection of gorgeous green goodies (and a lucky four leaf clover, too), which are just the thing for creating springtime gift packages and tags, party favors, St. Patrick’s Day treats, and handmade cards and crafts galore!
Can you think of a more perfect way to end a Ninja birthday party than with Giant Fortune Cookies for everyone? Your little ninjas won’t mind that these cookies aren’t edible since they’re filled with candy and fun toys to take home with them. Fortune cookie party favors…
TO MAKE: You will need one 12×12 piece of tan craft foam per favor. Cut foam into an 11-inch circle — we used the Martha Stewart Large Circle Cutter to make this step easy. Fold the circle in half without creasing the long edge. At the center of the folded circle, push inward to bring the ends together, creating a slight vertical crease. Unfold and place super-sticky, double-sided tape or hot glue just to the side of the vertical crease. Bring the ends back together and secure. Gently lift and smooth the rounded edges (opposite to the fold) to create a nice fortune cookie shape. Fill with a few toys and goodies. Don’t forget to include a fortune of course! At a Ninja birthday party it’s a good idea to watch out for flying stars — looks like a few have hit our cupcakes! Inspired by the throwing stars on this Ninja Party Invitation we created these fun, origami cupcake toppers.
TO MAKE: Cut 5-inch squares from thin kraft paper. You will need two squares per star. Following this tutorial fold into an origami throwing star. Place the stars into cupcakes, making them look a bit haphazard like they were “thrown” in. Complete the look by hanging a simple knit garland made using this tutorial from nothing but a t-shirt!
All your guests will be excited to get their hands on these DIY Ninja Staffs, perfect for some Ninja Birthday Party Games. Place a tape line on the ground and have ninjas take turns balancing on the line while they use a staff to try and knock their opponent off. To soften their blows, these Ninja Staffs are made from PVC pipe wrapped in foam tubing.
TO MAKE: For each Ninja Staff you will need a 3-foot piece of gray-colored, foam tubing insulation that fits half-inch tubing (found at the hardware store). Cut a length of three-quarter-inch PVC pipe to be two inches shorter than your gray foam piece. We cut the foam tubing with a pair of scissors and used an inexpensive pipe cutter tool that was simple to operate and created no mess. Slide the pipe inside the tubing insulation — it should fit very snugly so you may need an extra pair of hands to help push and pull the tubing around the pipe. Finish by wrapping string around the center of the staff to mimic the staff-wielding ninja on the party invitation.
