The Fourth of July just might be the perfect holiday (and if you don’t live in the U.S. you can sub in Canada Day or Bastille Day or whatever your national holiday might be!). A low key holiday with great weather, fabulous food and fireworks? Yes please! Add in these perfectly refreshing (and oh-so-festive) layered red, white and blue slushes and this already fun day becomes just a little bit sweeter.

Directions: To make these slushes blend batches of red, white and blue Gatorade with ice. Pour into mason jars in layers, letting each one set up for a few minute in the freezer before adding the next color. Add festive straws (find a fabulous selection of party straws here!) and enjoy!

Directions: To make the cake topper snip red, white and blue straws in half. Glue the halved straw pieces around the top of a plain drink stirrer. When the ‘burst’ of the firework is complete, glue a pom pom in the middle.
