Last week I was invited to tour a local Harmon’s grocery store here in Utah. My mom always shopped at Harmon’s when I was a kid. The owners, Bob and Randy Harmon (brothers), showed us around their brand new store in downtown Salt Lake City. It is beautiful and amazing and everything you never dreamed a grocery store could be. There are two levels. The upper level has lounge seating and free wifi. There is a post office. The have a gelato stand where they make their own gelato from methods they learned and machines they bought in Italy. On the lower level they have a huge selection of every kind of food. Cheeses, fresh daily baked bread, and yummy lunch buffets. They put thoughtful detail into everything they do. I was impressed. I know they’ve come a long way since my mom and I went there together and I’m glad to experience the change first hand. See the giveaway details at the end of the post.

Now on to the post: Mint Oreo Cookies

These delightful little cookies bring out the kid in everyone. With their sweet cookie taste and a hint of holiday peppermint, it’s a treat everyone will enjoy.

You will need: peppermint candies, white chocolate, Oreo type cookies, parchment paper, mini gable boxes

Unwrap and crush the peppermint candies in a food processor. Melt the white chocolate in a bowl by microwaving it for 30 seconds at a time. Stir the chocolate after every 30 seconds so that it doesn’t burn.

Gather your kids together to help you finish the cookies. Dip the cookies in white chocolate and place on a sheet of parchment paper. Sprinkle the crushed peppermint on top. Repeat until you have dipped all of your Oreos. Don’t move the cookies until the white chocolate has cooled and hardened.

Line a mini gable box with some parchment paper and stack 4 oreo cookie treats into a box. A sweet surprise in a sweet little package for your loved ones!

I apologize for the lack of posts this week! My website hosting company informed me a few days ago that some updates needed to be applied to their servers. Since there could be some performance issues as the updates run, I didn’t want to risk losing any posts while this happened. Blah, blah, blah, I know it’s boring technical stuff. Anyway, because of the delay  you might see a few extra or weekend posts full of holiday cheer coming your way. Thanks for your patience! xo Brittany

I’m so excited to share some pictures of the Christmas tree at our Bake It Pretty warehouse. I know it’s too late for this year, but maybe you’ll be inspired to make your own baking themed Christmas tree next year (and some decorations are already on sale!). A red tree skirt from World Market was added after these pictures were taken.
