Tag Archives: Ice Cream Party

It’s almost my daughter’s birthday and at our house birthdays mean parties + ice cream. Since I want her birthday to be perfect, we decided to do an ice cream taste test before taking her friends out on the big day. Marble Slab Creamery invited me to experience their new unlimited mix-ins and I had two willing guinea pigs ready to try anything–and any combinations they could dream up.

How it works: You pick your ice cream flavor, your ice cream is scooped and then put on a frozen granite slab, then mix-ins are added and mixed in. Viola! The best part? Unlimited mix-ins at no extra cost and no more weighing your ice cream.

A few cool facts: Marble Slab Creamery makes their own ice cream on site in small batches so every flavor tastes delicious. And they make as many other products as they can from scratch, including their own cones. And they have a ton of  mix-ins. The possibilities are endless. Now you can Direct Your Delicious.

The verdict: Okay so she loved the ice cream, if you can’t tell. And she can’t wait to go back to Marble Slab Creamery and celebrate her real birthday next week with friends and more ice cream.

As your Ice Cream Party winds down, send guests home equipped with a Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundae kit (modified from Cheryl’s great idea). Perfect for continuing the Ice Cream festivities after the party is over.

To put these sundae kits together, fill quart sized ice cream buckets (ordered them here) with homemade salted caramel sauce and packets of sprinkles, chopped nuts, and other sundae toppings. Pair each set with a bottle of chocolate sauce or Magic Shell topping to complete the package.

A rainbow of ice cream scoops is the perfect way to set the scene for a sweet Ice Cream Party. Hung all in a row, these cones make a great backdrop for a favor or treat table at a summer soiree. Check out the felt ice cream cone tutorial below.

You will need: scissors, felt in a rainbow of colors (including a color for the cones), ribbon, sewing machine

Directions: To make the felt ice cream cones, cut out the entire rainbow of circles for every ice cream cone you want to make. Then, cut out brown triangles (cones) and smaller circles as cherries. Cut lengths of ribbon as long as all of the scoops and part of the cone. This will help stabilize the felt. The color of the ribbon doesn’t matter since you won’t see it. Sew the ribbon to the back of the cone and all of the scoops. Leave a long tail of thread for hanging. *Note: For a no-sew version, you could hot glue the ribbon in place instead.

Hang your tall, rainbow hued ice cream cones in a row. If your party palette is more pastel-than-bright, hang tulle or sheer curtains in front of the row of ice cream cones to mute the brightness of the felt. Add a table full of favors and you’ve set the stage for scoops of fun!

You will need: yarn in a rainbow of colors and white, Clover Pom Pom Maker (or use the fork pom pom making method), wooden bamboo skewers,

Directions: Using the yarn and the Clover Pom Pom Maker, make large pom poms in a whole rainbow of colors. Also, make a smaller bright pink pom pom for the ‘cherry on top.’ To tone down the colors a little, mix white yarn in with the colored yarn (except the bright pink ‘cherry’). Using a wooden bamboo skewer, poke through the middle of each pom pom in rainbow order. Start with the cherry so it’ll be on top. Nestle a large pom pom or a foam ball into the bottom of your ‘cone’ cup (this one is from Michael’s Craft, but there are similar ones at Target). Poke the pointy end of the skewer into the bottom pom pom to secure. Repeat and you’re done!
