Party Favors! I adore these individual, personalized party favors from Vintage Bake Shop. That’s right, they’re cupcake mixes that you can personalize for your event. These gourmet, all natural cupcake mixes come in 6 yummy flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet, Chocolate Mint, Ginger Spice or Champagne. Each mix makes 6 regular cupcakes or 12 minis.

Vintage Bake Shop is generously giving away a set of 12 personalized favor mixes to one of our readers. Just pop on over to their site and check out all of their yummy flavors. Then come on back here and let me know which flavor you like best. You can comment on every post this week that features an item you would like to win. At the end of the week I’ll pick one winner from each post. I’ll have 5 prizes and 5 winners. Oh, and make sure to leave your email address in the comment form so that I can contact you when you win! I’ll post the winners next Monday.
p.s. If you’re reading this post on Facebook, please click through and leave a comment on the actual blog post. Facebook doesn’t allow giveaways that aren’t regulated by them and it’s also easier to keep track of everyone if all the comments are in one place. Thank you!

This is our last day of posting the Bunny Party. We hope it’s given you some fun inspiration for Easter. Cupcakes are an easy, kid pleasing dessert. Top them with a pair of our paper bunny ears and a cotton candy tail. You can buy containers of cotton candy at the grocery store. Please note, cotton candy starts to dissolve once it’s out of the package so put the bunny tail on right before serving.
For cute Easter cookies, frost a bunny shaped cookie and let dry. Place bunny cookies in cellophane bags. Attach a cotton ball tail with double stick tape and tie it up with a pretty ribbon.

Halloween cat toppers and ghostly goody bags. With lots of kids and classes to provide stuff for, we’re all about the Halloween treats around here. A few more ideas to inspire you…

Have some fun with tiny glassine sleeves that are normally used for 35mm negatives. Edit: Draw a ghost face freehand with a sharpie marker on first, fill with marshmallows or other small white candies, and carefully twist the top shut. In three easy steps you have an instant ghostly goody bag.
These glassine bags are 1 3/4″ wide and 9 1/2″ long. Sold in packs of 50 and sold individually.

Fill some fun treat bags with gum, candy, chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallow ghosts, goldfish crackers, or whatever else you can think up. Cut out these cat toppers and use them as a fun tag taped to a stick, tucked inside or tied on a bag (and of course you could use them on a cupcake as well). I think these goody bags would be great Halloween party favors or a fun surprise for a small preschool class. Click on the toppers to download the PDF.

This is my final post on the Back to School ideas before going back to school and I think we’ve saved the best for last. What better treat to serve at a Back to School party than caramel apples? A tip from my mom, who dipped this apple for me: always make sure your apples are super cold before you dip them in the caramel. We used a pencil as the stick and a cool cupcake liner to set the dipped apple in.
And, like everything else, I think this would also make a great teacher gift…

Here are some super simple notebooks that you can make for back to school ideas. Use them either as an activity or for party favors if you’re having a school themed party. Or you could give one to your favorite teacher. Gifts are always welcome, just sayin.

1. You will need a 5″ x 8″ notepad cut in half, a paper trimmer, scrapbooking paper, double sided tape, embellishments. Most office supply stores will cut your notepad in half for a small fee.
2. Trim your scrapbooking paper to fit the width the of the notepad–about 2. 5 inches, leaving extra paper in the length.
3. Carefully line up the paper at the bottom of the notepad and fold the paper over the top of the notepad and down the back. Trim the excess paper in the back, leaving enough to cover a bit of the back of the notepad.
4. Using double sided tape, tape over the small top part of the notepad (it’s green on the example) in the front, on the top, and in the back. Refit the scrapbooking paper over the notepad and press the paper to the double stick tape. Your scrapbooking paper cover should only stick to the small top part of the notepad so that you can lift the cover and write on the notepad.
5. Embellish however you’d like. We stamped the date of the school year on one notebook and the name of the teacher on another. And I like to add ribbon as well. If you have any questions, ask me in the comments.

Turn a boring old hula hoop into something your daughter will love. Using long strips of fabric, tightly wrap the hula hoop and knot the ends. Endless, colorful summer fun.
And yes, you can still hula hoop with the fabric on it.

Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh my! For the take home favors the girls each got a basket with a simple red gingham fabric square tucked in the bottom. I put their courage medal, heart necklace, and their diploma inside along with a Toto cookie.

Binoculars. As party favors. If you’re going to send home a party favor, it should either be edible or high enough quality that it won’t end up in the trash. I’ll be perfectly honest, it’s expensive to give a real pair of binoculars to each guest. And you might choose a different party favor for your jungle themed event. But please think through the life span of every party item you buy, including the items you send home with your guests. Wow, I’m preachy today. What are your thoughts (even if you disagree)?

My sweet mother made the cute little 10″ Raggedy Ann dolls for this party. I found fabric for the dolls’ dresses at local fabric stores. I guess the doll pattern is discontinued, but you can still find some floating around the internet–like here.

If you are struggling coming up with a party theme, look to the favorite books and toys of your childhood. You never know, they just might make a comeback.

I thought it would be SO fun to make homemade gum for this party from a “Make Your Own Chewing Gum” kit I found on Glee Gum. Wow, making your own gum is harder than it seems. And more complicated. But the kids enjoyed it and I always think it’s cool to teach kids where stuff comes from or how it’s really made. Gum doesn’t just grow on the grocery store shelves, you know.

After we finished making all of the gum, I cut the gum dough into little pieces and wrapped it in waxed paper and put it into these containers for the kids to take home and enjoy.
