It’s inevitable that something will need to be taped to a wall, door or ceiling at your party—we recommend {red} washi tape. This decorative masking tape is strong enough to hold paper banners in place yet gentle enough to not damage the paint on your walls or ceiling.

Painter’s tape is also a great option for tacking up décor, but we love that washi tape comes in so many colors and patterns to coordinate with any party.

One element that almost always finds its way onto a party table is a jar or bucket filled with something yummy. Here’s where a stash of metal scoops in various sizes comes in handy.

Metal Scoops are a must for a Charming Party! #charmingpartybasics

Metal Scoops compare thrifty and splurge-worthy options OneCharmingParty.com #charmingpartybasics

THRIFTY BASIC: The three aluminum scoops at left come in a set from World Market for only $5! CHARMING SPLURGE: The shiny scoops to the right are about $12 each at Gygi’s, but the quality difference is clear — made of stainless steel they are sure to last through loads of parties. REMEMBER: It’s best to handwash scoops since the dishwasher may dull their finish.

Rolls of white paper make a great alternative tablecloth for all types of gatherings. Use them to protect craft tables at birthday parties or even as impromptu table coverings for dinner parties or play dates.

These table coverings protect your furniture from glue, glitter and dings. And they’re the perfect paper tablecloths to draw on when paired with a bucket of fresh crayons–so they double as entertainment for kids (and kids at heart)!

Decorate your next party with an adorable DIY fringe garland. Made from plastic table cloths, this party fringe is inexpensive and available in a variety of colors.

You will need: plastic table cloth, scissors

Simply cut your table cloth lengthwise into fourths. The table cloths pictured were 48 inches by 109 inches. This gave me 4 strands measuring 12 inches by 109 inches. Fold each of the strands in half, lengthwise. Cut your fringe from the bottom and leave about an inch at the top. This fringe is great to layer different colors together. Don’t worry about making one strand stretch across an entire room either. Simply end the strand with a little fringe dangling for an adorable finish.
